The journey begins!
Exit the hustle and bustle of the city center towards the tranquil Greek countryside. On your way to the famous Delphi site, exiting the highway, you will cross Thebes’ plateau, the birthplace of the mythological Pan-Hellenic hero Hercules before you start elevating the slopes of the Mount Parnassus where the ancient citadel of Delphi is situated.
Once you reach Delphi, you will meet your certified mountain guide with whom you will hike the ancient trail. The mountain guide will drive you up the
mountain till the area of Livadi, where your hike will begin. Admiring the imposing landscapes of Parnassus, you will be following the ancient Greeks steps, which are also part of the E4 European path. A moderate 6km hike where you will enjoy alpine sceneries, breathtaking views of the sea, and endless fir forests of one of the oldest National Parks in Greece.
Once your hiking is over, you will visit the Archeological site and Delphi museum to enjoy a private guided tour with a local state-licensed guide.
The site and the geophysical beauty of the surrounding area are breathtaking, offering stunning views of the olive-grove of Amfissa.
While journeying back to Athens, if you have time, you could make a stop at the mountainous yet cosmopolitan village of Arachova, for an early dinner.
Approximate driving time:
6 hours (500 kilometers)
